As part of the show being held alongside the Festival Internacional de Benicàssm,
Samuel Rodríguez, a photographer who actively collaborated on images for the Forum Alternative Channel, has been chosen as one of the 6 winners. Congratulations from all of us here.
Samuel Rodríguez has been chosen as one of the 6 winners of the FIB-ART 2008 contest, the contemporary Art competition organized by the FIB alongside the Festival Internacional de Música. The installation he presented for the contest can be seen at this
link. It consisted of a large format (mural size) print of an image of a refugee camp in
Naher el Bared, in northern Lebanon. It was taken in January 2008, a few months after the end of the armed conflicts. Under the image there is a statement written by the artist pressing for the need to bring photo journalism to the street and to show all those who go to FIB'08 and the Torreón beach a reality they would probably never see any other way:
Pure photography on the pure beach.
“Goal: that the photojournalist's work is no longer confined to the same publications as always and that it engages public space to show everyone who comes into contact with the pieces realities they might otherwise never see. Without demagogy or sentimentality.” Photographer for the European Commission in Lebanon, for the NGO MPDL in Palestine and Lebanon and for local NGOs in Morocco. Freelance Reportage Photographer in conflict zones"
Samuel Rodríguez actively and voluntarily participated as a photographer in the recent
Forum Alternative Channel of Barcelona. You can see some of his photos
