Last may 6th, in the experience of the pilot course of project (·Ab·soo·), a conference about cooperativism was done in Santo Domingo. This conference was performed by Xavier Plana i Bassols, member of the Foundation IWith.org Directive Council and cooperativism expert, who had gone to Dominican Republic for some days. This session initiative appeared of students's interest in doing a practical continuity to a debate about cooperativism done in the course. Cooperatives's creation can be a good way to contribute to economic and social development of their country.
The session, done in Kinder El Almendro, was opened to students, institutions, relatives and neighbours of the zone also interested in this theme.
Xavier Plana has created cooperatives like Punt Diari, Revista Cooperació Catalana, El Petit Plansó (cooperative school), a third age residence in Roses,... He was patron during 18 years in Fundació Roca i Galés (specialized in social studies) and he was writer of the catalan cooperatives law of spanish transition.
