Iwith.org will attend the III World Congress against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescentsn and Adolescents

This important event will take place at the end of the month in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Iwith.org will participate to show how diffusion through CITs can help strengthen the causes that fight against this type of exploitation.
The III World Congress against the sexual exploitation of children and adolescence will be held from November 25 to 28 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and will bring together over 3,000 people from five continents, including 300 adolescents.
The opening subject of the Congress will deal with how to guarantee the Rights of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents and their Protection against Sexual Exploitation from a Systemic Vision. During the three days of the meeting, there will be workshops, dialogues, and five panels:

• Forms of Commercial Sexual Exploitation and its new scenarios
• Legal Framework and Political Accountability
• Integrated cross-sector policies
• Initiatives of social responsibility
• Strategies for international cooperation

Aside from articulating and producing knowledge, the event will generate important initiatives in the search for ways in which countries will face the sexual exploitation of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents.

Additionally, the choice of Brazil as the seat for the event demonstrates the international recognition of the progress achieved by that country, which today constitutes a reference not only in MERCOSUR, but also in the sphere of Ibero-American cooperation.

The first Congress took place in Stockholm, Sweden in 1996; the second one, in 2001 in Yokohama, Japan, where Brazil presented the results of the agreements established during the first World Congress and the actions taken jointly by civil society and public power.

The Congress was organised by the Brazilian government (coordinated by the Special Secretariat for Human Rights in alliance with the Ministries of Tourism, Social Development, Fight against Hunger, and Foreign Affairs), with End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes (ECPAT), the United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF), and the International Network of Non-governmental Organisations.

• Iwith.org

will also be present at the event to show how the New Technologies – CITs are a good tool for contributing to the struggle against sexual exploitation of adolescents and children, as well as a good means of communication and diffusion of campaigns to prevent and attack this scourge.
