Forum Alternative Channel: An international success
The Forum Alternative Channel: Social Networks and Responsible Media made the conference to an international success, creating a good initial point for the second conference in New York next November. Bocatics, those small capsules of simple and practical knowledge available via the Internet serve as our introduction at the next celebration of Internet Day. We invite all of our Iwith.org friends to vote for this tool before May 17th!
The collection of poems by Ronald Franklin Castillo Florian, from Peru, has been the most downloaded book in the 2008 contest. As of 12 o'clock on 22 April there were more than two thousand clicks to download one of the 23 works posted on our web site. Once again, we would like to thank the authors for their generosity and trust and the readers for their faith in the project.
After 8 days of the publication of the books on our website and now that we are less than 2 weeks away from the final of our Competition of the Day of the Book, we are giving you the first count of the download figures.

The Internet to the Rescue of Yasuni, in Ecuador
A Spanish NGO, and Iwith.org partner, has decided to offer, via photographs and other medium available on the Internet and the Ab·core platform, to raise awareness about oil and timber interest on the Amazon region in Ecuador.
Whichever book receives most downloads between now and the 22nd of April will be accredited with Iwith.org's international book-day prize. The objective of which is to contribute to a useful online culture.

Great response to Iwith.org E-learning courses
There are no longer any places available on the course starting on March 28, the web as a communications tool for donors, volunteers, beneficiaries and other interest groups but bear in mind that there are 3 other courses available.

BCN 30/4: A date you can not miss
On the 30th of April, the FORUM ALTERNATIVE CHANNEL, social networks and responsible media, will be held in Barcelona, organized by Iwith.org and Alternative Channel. Our hope is that this forum will be a meeting place for experts in social networks, TIC and web 2.0; professionals of social and responsible communications; and third sector actors like International Groups, NGO’s and entities.

Noble Peace Prize laureate Rigoberta Menchú sues High Court justices for discrimination
Nobel Peace Prize laureate has filed two discrimination lawsuits against Guatemalan Constitutional Court (CC) Justices that threw out international warrants for the arrest of former military officials accused of genocide. Meanwhile, Santiago Pedraz has called the media worldwide (newspapers, radio, television, and digital media) to invite victims of Human Right abuses and people interested in this case to cooperate in the investigation, since the Court has decided not to.

The most popular postcard on Christmas 2007
Not long ago we informed you of the winner of our Postcards Contest 2007 but we still had to show you, as it was one of the contest’s guidelines, the most popular postcard. It was, ‘Colorful tents’ , by Luis Buruel, from Germany, who by the postcard wrote: ‘send some colour and happiness to your friends with this postcard’.
After hard deliberations, the jury of the IV Iwith.org Christmas Card Contest decided that the 2007 Winner is Christmas with humour, by Luis Eduardo León, from Colombia.
The restaurant, shop, and gastronomy workshop Mescladíshave been awarded with the 2007 award for their innovative initiative on the fight against unemployment, granted by Fundació Acció Solidaria contra l´Atur and Fundació Un Sol Mon.

Successful Idealist Event
Iwith.org´s headquarters in Barcelona received more than 70 people interested in the operation of the Meeting Point of Idealists.org located in the dependences of our NGO.
The cards have the solidarity message from Iwith.org, a non lucrative organization that works with New Technologies for the development of the most disadvantaged.Many organizations and also NGOs have sent in beautiful designs that will help to make known their selfless and altruistic work.

1st December, World AIDS Day
While UN calls for leadership in combating AIDS, in Catalonia an organization assumes the challenge and therefore, it is awarded an Ab·core program for 2007 Web Projects and it is nominated to Volunteering Awards 2007.
The training focused on the management of the core platform ab•core iwith.org and management of virtual spaces of learning, to apply these technologies in the future education in rural Central America.

International Volunteer Day is approaching: Acknowledge the People that Work with your Organisation.
The 5th of December is International Volunteer Day. We’d like to tell you about the history of the day, some of the events taking place to celebrate the day and, most importantly, we’d like to give a mention to the Iwith.org volunteers.
The second edition of Responsible ICT´s dossier has been published, edited by MediaResponsable. The dossier analyzes the situation of Social Corporate Responsibility in companies of the TIC sector and includes a survey of the ONL´s that work with ICT´s, in which Iwith.org was included.

Iwith.org was present at Humanizar 2007
The first Conference on Cooperative Social Responsibility Humanizar 2007 was held in Zaragoza on the 17th and 18th of October, promoted by the Industry and Commerce Department of the government of Aragón. Iwith.org organized the round table “Internet for NGO’s”.

The 2007 Web Projects Grants is Closed
During the last few months we have received a list of candidates from Catalonian organizations for the 2007 Web Projects Grants carried out conjointly with the International Ashekor Foundation. We should inform you all of the closing as of today of this competition because the number of proposals presented over the last few weeks exceeds that of available scholarships, and therefore, we can not accept new projects. HUMANIZAR 2007, the first Conference on Coorporative Social Responsibility promoted by the Industry and Commerce Department of the government in Aragón will take place Next 17th and 18th of October. Iwith.org will participate with the round table ‘Internet for NGOs’, come with us!!

Once more, the Ab•core Platform will host a European campus, this time under the leadership of the Fundació Ciutat de Viladecans. We are referring to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs for short), which act as main drivers of the European community today, both in Eastern and Western countries, but which must redefine themselves to face the challenges of international competition.

The program for the 7th Fundraising Congress in which Iwith.org is participating is now ready
We want to remind you that on the 17th and 18th of September we will be celebrating the 7th annual Fundraising Congress in Madrid's ICAI-ICADE facilities. Iwith.org will be in charge of the workshop: "Internet and transparency, tools for fundraising”. The general theme of this year’s Congress will be TRANSPARENCY.
In this article we give you the example of the Catalan Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (ACCDV), one of the first beneficiaries of the Ashkenor-Iwith.org “ Grant Fund for Web Projects 2007”. From now on, thanks to the Ab-Core Platform, you can have an up to date website fit for your needs and objectives.
On 17 and 18 September Madrid’s ICAI-ICADE will host the Seventh Edition of the Fundraising Conference. Iwith.org will be running the workshop: “Internet and openness, tools for fundraising”. |
