We have used the Internet to learn more about Ronald Castillo Florián, the winner of our Books 2008 Competition. The author already has experience using the Internet to promote his work; in fact he has a blog which he updates daily.
The collection of poems by Ronald Franklin Castillo Florian, from Peru, has been the most downloaded book in the 2008 contest. As of 12 o'clock on 22 April there were more than two thousand clicks to download one of the 23 works posted on our web site. Once again, we would like to thank the authors for their generosity and trust and the readers for their faith in the project.
For the first time, human rights were analysed from the voices of their actors, a fact made possible by the meeting organised by ADANE and CEA in Barcelona.
After 8 days of the publication of the books on our website and now that we are less than 2 weeks away from the final of our Competition of the Day of the Book, we are giving you the first count of the download figures.

The Internet to the Rescue of Yasuni, in Ecuador
A Spanish NGO, and Iwith.org partner, has decided to offer, via photographs and other medium available on the Internet and the Ab·core platform, to raise awareness about oil and timber interest on the Amazon region in Ecuador.
Our NGO has been invited by the Global Alliance for the Information and Communication Technologies and Development (GAID), an initiative approved by the General Secretary of the UN in 2006. The alliance responds to the need and demand created by different actors of an inclusive global forum and a platform for the dialogue on the use of the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies). Through this dialogue it is expected to meet the internationally agreed objectives for development and its subsequent reduction in poverty.

According to the United Nations, there is still a lot to do in order to eliminate the digital gap
The conclusion of the Information Economy Report 2007-2008, presented by the UN, is that developing countries are very much behind developed countries regarding the adoption of the ICTs and how they are used by enterprises.

BCN 30/4: A date you can not miss
On the 30th of April, the FORUM ALTERNATIVE CHANNEL, social networks and responsible media, will be held in Barcelona, organized by Iwith.org and Alternative Channel. Our hope is that this forum will be a meeting place for experts in social networks, TIC and web 2.0; professionals of social and responsible communications; and third sector actors like International Groups, NGO’s and entities.

The First International Communication and Information Technology Conference for Cooperation towards Development
From the 30th to the 31st of January 2008, the Palacio de Congresos in Gijón, Asturias (Spain), will host “Cooperation towards Development 2.0: The First International Communication and Information Technology Conference for Cooperation towards Development”. An event uniting government, social and business sectors seeking to exchange knowledge and experiences with the aim of spanning digital gaps and promoting the use of ICTs in order to improve the methods and practices of cooperation towards development.

Successful Idealist Event
Iwith.org´s headquarters in Barcelona received more than 70 people interested in the operation of the Meeting Point of Idealists.org located in the dependences of our NGO.

The 2007 Web Projects Grants is Closed
During the last few months we have received a list of candidates from Catalonian organizations for the 2007 Web Projects Grants carried out conjointly with the International Ashekor Foundation. We should inform you all of the closing as of today of this competition because the number of proposals presented over the last few weeks exceeds that of available scholarships, and therefore, we can not accept new projects. HUMANIZAR 2007, the first Conference on Coorporative Social Responsibility promoted by the Industry and Commerce Department of the government in Aragón will take place Next 17th and 18th of October. Iwith.org will participate with the round table ‘Internet for NGOs’, come with us!!
The RESPECT Refugees NGO launches an online training program for volunteers and ONGs in developing countries. Read further about this interesting initiative.
Next Commencement September 1st: Organization and Meeting Management course. Iwith.org courses are subsidized by the Generalitat of Catalunya and they are available for only 10% of the real price for non-profit organizations. Also, there are 10 scholarships for the first to subscribe. The anticipated hot weather, low cost airlines and holiday plans have given us the idea of setting you a mission this summer. All you need is to be observant and to have the desire to put real life into images through photography.
