Conflicts and their relation with new technologies in Iwith.org’s course in Universitat de Girona.
Within the framework of the Master and postgraduate studies of resolution of public conflicts, the University of Girona ( UdG) offers four alternatives of specific training in the topic, one of which will be given by Ramón Bartomeus, Resource Manager for Iwith.org.
With an emphasis on the preperation of informatical material and the education, the second meeting of New Technologies and the Third Sector had been organized by SISOSCAT in Barcelona. In the following article we'll present you the most important data and informations of the discussions.

This 29th of May 2008 on the garage of Palau Robert, the second edition of the Third Sector and New Technologies conferences will take part. They are organized by SISOSCAT and this year are aimed to third sector entities having among their beneficiaries the dropout collectives or on risk to be socially excluded, mainly on Catalonia but also on any place on Earth. Sisoscat works everyday to diminish the digital breach, both by training and donating equipment.

New site for supportive young people
The NGO Intermón Oxfam has launched a web aimed at supportive young people implicated in this institution, just like other initiatives such as la Mediatek, by Grec. www.dalelavueltaalmundo.org looks for volunteers for summer music festivals, suggests an ideas-to-change-the-world contest and offers the possibility of winning a trip to visit a cooperation project -among many other different proposals.

Barcelona celebrated the Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue Night, together with some other 37 countries
At Plaza del Rey, a series of events were held by 1001 Actions for Dialogue organization. There, associations gathered to celebrate cultural heritage of the Euro-Mediterranean Region.

Bocatics, those small capsules of simple and practical knowledge available via the Internet serve as our introduction at the next celebration of Internet Day. We invite all of our Iwith.org friends to vote for this tool before May 17th!
We have used the Internet to learn more about Ronald Castillo Florián, the winner of our Books 2008 Competition. The author already has experience using the Internet to promote his work; in fact he has a blog which he updates daily.
The collection of poems by Ronald Franklin Castillo Florian, from Peru, has been the most downloaded book in the 2008 contest. As of 12 o'clock on 22 April there were more than two thousand clicks to download one of the 23 works posted on our web site. Once again, we would like to thank the authors for their generosity and trust and the readers for their faith in the project.
After 8 days of the publication of the books on our website and now that we are less than 2 weeks away from the final of our Competition of the Day of the Book, we are giving you the first count of the download figures.

The Internet to the Rescue of Yasuni, in Ecuador
A Spanish NGO, and Iwith.org partner, has decided to offer, via photographs and other medium available on the Internet and the Ab·core platform, to raise awareness about oil and timber interest on the Amazon region in Ecuador.
Whichever book receives most downloads between now and the 22nd of April will be accredited with Iwith.org's international book-day prize. The objective of which is to contribute to a useful online culture.
Our NGO has been invited by the Global Alliance for the Information and Communication Technologies and Development (GAID), an initiative approved by the General Secretary of the UN in 2006. The alliance responds to the need and demand created by different actors of an inclusive global forum and a platform for the dialogue on the use of the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies). Through this dialogue it is expected to meet the internationally agreed objectives for development and its subsequent reduction in poverty.

The most popular postcard on Christmas 2007
Not long ago we informed you of the winner of our Postcards Contest 2007 but we still had to show you, as it was one of the contest’s guidelines, the most popular postcard. It was, ‘Colorful tents’ , by Luis Buruel, from Germany, who by the postcard wrote: ‘send some colour and happiness to your friends with this postcard’.

1st December, World AIDS Day
While UN calls for leadership in combating AIDS, in Catalonia an organization assumes the challenge and therefore, it is awarded an Ab·core program for 2007 Web Projects and it is nominated to Volunteering Awards 2007.
The training focused on the management of the core platform ab•core iwith.org and management of virtual spaces of learning, to apply these technologies in the future education in rural Central America.
Rafael Landívar University will create an online degree with collaboration from the Rigoberta Menchú Tum Foundation, with academic support from University of Illes Balears, and technological support from Iwith.org.
The second edition of Responsible ICT´s dossier has been published, edited by MediaResponsable. The dossier analyzes the situation of Social Corporate Responsibility in companies of the TIC sector and includes a survey of the ONL´s that work with ICT´s, in which Iwith.org was included.

ICT's all together for peace
ICT4D is a term that is being used increasingly at present that refers to the use of the information and communication technologies (ICT´s) for the development. If the word peace is added we refer to the use of this technology in the treatment of crisis and disputes resolution. Find out about this interesting initiative.
On Dec 8 -10, 2007 the World Conference on Unity of Man will take place in India. The purpose of this is to explain the basic unit of life and contribute to an essential improvement of the situation present today.  Two years ago ECAS and Iwith.org began to develop the first Management Programme for Records and Meetings in Catalan. Today, in addition to being a reality for the beneficiaries of Ab•Core, it can be a tool for every organisation that downloads it free from the Internet. We celebrated the first graduating class from Jalpan Institute for Educational Excellence (Mexico).
The last 3rd July, the sixth-grade class from Institute for Educational Excellence in Sierra Gorda de Querétaro (Mexico) was graduated. It all began as a dream of its founder, Abel Montero, who was able to fulfill his dream by means of the strong economic support from Iwith.org and Infantia foundations. Thanks to the support of these foundations, the institute now offers excellent education for children −boys and girls from the region− with outstanding skills for learning, and who have limited economic resources. The NGO Benin-Emergence, the World Summit Association WSA, and the government of the Republic of Benin are organizing an exclusive meeting of African leaders to discuss how the e-Contents (contents of Internet) can help promote development in Western Africa. The anticipated hot weather, low cost airlines and holiday plans have given us the idea of setting you a mission this summer. All you need is to be observant and to have the desire to put real life into images through photography.
