THE AFFECTS OF FIBROMIALGIA FROM THE VALENCIAN ASSOCIATION, VALENCIA. Fibromialgia (FM) is an entity of idiopathic etiology recognized by the O.M.S. since 1992, which is estimated to affect between 2 and 4 percent of the total population which is assumed to be between 400,000 and 1,000,000 people in Spain, without actually considering the numerous population that hasn’t been diagnosed. Of the people who suffer this condition, between 80 and 90 percent are women and the average age is between 30 and 50 years old, although recently being more frequently diagnosed in children and adolescents. Our project aspires to promote a basic psychosocial intervention in the affects of FM and its conventional nucleus, deterioration and related problems of social integration from the problems associated with the presence of a chronic illness like Fibromialgia. Construction of a children's home in Mumbai, India Grants 2007 Association Kamathipura "Asskam". For 11 years, Asskam has been funding a night-care centre in Mumbai's red-light district, Kamathipura. More than 100 children receive protection, food and shelter every night. In the morning, the younger children attend the on-site nursery and the older children attend the municipal school. A doctor and psychologist pay weekly visits to the centre to tend to the children. In order to better meet the children's needs and to offer them a safer future away from the dangers of sexual trafficking, Asskam started building a home in 2006 in a Mumbai suburb away from the red-light district, for 150 children. This home will include residential facilities and a training centre in a safe neighbourhood, which includes services such as schools and hospitals. (Read More) | ||||||||
